How do you put a header accross the page?

hi, using DWCS4 and winxp

how do you put a header (say it's yellow) across the whole right to left on the top without the 'padding' showing up.

say i have a page 740px, I make the header 740 and put it on the top, it goes to one side. it won't center.

Difficult to say without seeing the page. Can you provide a link? It is customary to override your browsers default settings before applying your own, particularly since IE and FF have different defaults for padding, margin and text size.
