How do you move /opt or add to it

thanks for the info.

could someone tell me or point me to some where I can see how this is done
 
Assuming there is space on the disk:

Load the system in single user mode.
Make a copy of the data in /opt (tar cvf /dev/rmt/0 .) for example.
Make a copy of the data in any slice that is giving space to /opt.
Use Format to change the size of /opt.
(Don't forget to run the label command in the format utility or the changes will not happen).
Restore your data.

Using a new disk would be something like this:
(Assume new disk is c2t2d0s0

Run a backup of /opt.
umount /opt
use format to create required structure.
mount /dev/dsk/c2t2d0s0 /opt
restore data to new /opt

You could also move directories elsewhere and create links to them from /opt.
