Is there a way this can be done?

Yes, I am aware of the info palette, but it only give info regarding the angle when you are actually rotating it - but not for an already rotated object.

Any ideas?

thanks

Use the measure tool - start at one end and follow to end point - you'll see in info box.

Thanks. That's brilliant.

(I've never really used that tool much)

Happy to help. Also good use in Photoshop, especially when trying to straighten out a scanned photo - good for the arbitrary rotation angle.
