Hello. I need to login to our Octel voicemail system, but not sure how to do it. Is there a proprietary software program that is needed to login to the system, or can I use a terminal emulator, such as HyperTerminal?
I already have the modem number and login/password.
Thanks...

I use Procomm plus, but I believe you can use hyperterminal. Set the terminal type to Wyse 50. Parity is N-8-1. Our baud rate is 9600, but yours may be different.

My hyperterminal doesn't have a wyse 50 option. I'm using Windows XP PRO. Maybe it is on the older version of Hyperterminal. I will see if I can find ProComm. Thanks.

Procomm is the best route for logging into almost every Avaya/Lucent product Speak softly and carry a big switch

I am trying to adjust the OPEN and CLOSE time in our Octel voicemail system. I first go into "Attendant Schedules, Port Monitoring". Second, "Attendant Schedules and Weekend/Holidays". Third, I chose the "Attendant Schedule Number". The "Begin" time is set to 8:00A and the "End" time is 5:00P. Only problem is, the voicemail system never closes the office at 5:00P. What am I doing wrong. Am I in the wrong menu of the voicemail system.

Attendant Schedule Number: 2
Attendant Availability on Weekday: 2 - Part-time
Weekday Schedule (if Part-time Availability)

End: 5:00P End: End:
Attendant Availability on Weekend or Holiday: 3 - Never

End: End: End:

Thanks JKE55 and Nick44.

I was able to find two other emulators that can do wyse 50 and tried them both. I’m still unable to login. The login prompt looks like this: “please enter the system manger password: 2F” then it doesn’t matter what I press on the keyboard it says “Invalid Charter” Have you seen this before? I am starting to think there is a problem with the modem on the voicemail system.

Is this a Serenade? 250/350? or what? Speak softly and carry a big switch

All I know is that it is a 250, but I'm not sure what version it is.

You are still haveing difficulties emulating the session. I use netterm (Freeware) to connect via modem. I can easily setup Wyse50 emulation with this program. Check it out.

The 2F you are seeing is part of an escape sequence sent from the Octel. make sure you are using a WYSE50 emulator
