How do you link Ipoffice and Act together with the Tapi service?

I have installed Phone manager onto the network with the Tapi service added on the install on all PC's. Phone manager is working fine. The problem I discovered is that Act, MS Outlook and Dialer can only see the H323 service to dial out and not the IP office. I have checked in Phones and Modems (on MS XPsp1), in the advanced tab to make sure that the IP Office Tapi service is there and that it points to the switch correctly which it does, however when you try to configure the applications to use the IP Office Tapi service you can not see the service in the drop down list.
Is there a patch needed or are there any suggestions on how I can get this working?
Anyone got any Ideas
Charlie

I had the same problem and have solved it. The cause of your problem is that the Avaya docs have you install the Tapi drivers before the Wave hardware so the drivers don't link to it properly for Act or MS Outlook to work.

You first need to uninstall all the Avaya tapi software and the Avaya Wave "Hardware" located under the Sounds and Audio Devices. Reboot to start the process clean.

1. Install the Avaya Wave "hardware" (its not actual hardware but the PC considers it a hardware install). The Avaya documentation explains how very clearly. Then reboot.

2. Now install the Avaya Tapi drivers from the Users CD. Select the first three options on the installer (Phone Manager, Tapi and Dev, uncheck Softconsole unless you bought the license). You will need the correct IP number of the IPO controller and the users name and pw from the IPO manager. The users setup in the IPO needs to have Phone Manager Pro selected and not Lite (Did you buy Avaya licenses for Phone Manager Pro? - needed for Act integration). You also need to select Off-Hook in their Telephony setup in IPO. Once the Tapi drivers are installed, reboot again.

3. Now setup the Phone and Modem Options in the PC control panel. See my instructions here: thread940-891365 for properly setting up this control panel so Act can dial out easily.

4. You should now be able to open Act and setup the dialer by selecting the IP Office as the line to dial. When you tell it to dial a number you will be able to watch its progress in Phone Manager and once it rings on the far end your users phone will ring too.

Good luck.
