Hi all been having a lot of trouble trying to install sql 2008 standard on server 2008 r2. I have installed the sql sp1 and running the install from there but it keeps telling me i need .net 3.5 sp1. I have checked and the server is running 3.5.1. Have tried to install .net 3.5 sp1 but cant get it to install.

Am I doing something wrong???

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But, in practice, there is.

Dang I wish I had written down how I handled this. You are not doing anything wrong but Microsoft has some strange hoops that you need to jump through in a certain order for installation in this case.
