When installing software like MS Project, Visio, Office, etc., how would I go about having the serial key automatically inserted as opposed to manually typing it in?
You would have to repackage the MSI. Most Microsoft applications have both a setup.exe and an MSI file on the installation disc. For Office 2003 products as an example, you can use the free tools supplied on their Office Resource Kit (such as the Custom Installation Wizard) to repackage an MSI for distribution. These links talk a little about it, but you can find a lot more online:
In addition, there are even better third-party tools out there for tweaking MSI's that you can search for online. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure Microsoft's free tools let you hardcode the license key. So you may need to use a different utility.
