I'm trying to figure out a good method for organizing our software in the IT department here. Does anyone have any innovative ways of storing software CD's and also software licenses. I've been doing things a certain way but I want something more efficient, easy and neat. Any tips would be great!

Store CDs in app order labelled with the asset tag of the unit they go on.

Store install information and software licensing in a database matched to unit so you can reinstall easily.

Register software with relevant company.

Hi there:

We store our CD's in A3 files with CD pouches in alphabetical order. We copy the CDs we can and store the orginal in a safe. We then use a dymo label machine to label up the cd and activation keys on the CD pouches. It works well for us. We store our license details in a excel spreadsheet and include activation keys.
