First I am completely unfamiliar with RPG. I need to transfer some files(a database) created with Lattice RPG II on a 386 computer running windows 3.1 to a Pentium 4 running XP.

I don't have a clue where to start. I am very computer literate when it comes to Windows, dos, and programs but I am illiterate when it comes to programing.

Can anyone help?

I forgot to mention that I would like to export these files to Microsoft access.

Thanks

I am not sure what your question is? You want to know how to transfer files from one PC to another PC? iSeriesCodePoet

A friend of mine has a database created with Lattice RPG II. They recently upgraded from a 386 with Windows 3.1 to a Pentium 4 with XP. They want the database moved from the old machine to the new machine. They purchased a new database program for the new machine that uses Microsoft Access. Naturally they want to preserve the existing database (over 3700 files) and be able to access it with the new program. Is there a waye\ I can convert it to ASCII comma delimited? The program created with Lattice offers no options for exporting or converting database to any other formats.

Most likely the Lattice RPGII file, if indexed, is a DBASEIII file format. Access might have the ability to import it directly. Another way is to search your friend's system for a utility called IDUMP which was supplied with Lattice to export the database to a sequential (ascii delimitted) file. Then it should be easily imported into Access. To use the IDUMP command just key the command and press Enter. A usage display will appear.
