How do you bridge an extension to a digital phone?

We have a Avaya 2410 phones that are programmed a little awkward to get them to work. So I'm trying to figure out why. I'll try to explain.

The 2410 digital phone is programmed with:

Button ASSIGNMENTS
1: call-appr (users personal digital number)
2: abrdg-appr ext:nnnn ring:r (main office analog number)
3: call-appr(users personal digital number, again)

I'm trying to make it so that button 3 doesn't have to be a duplicate of button 1 (seems like a waste of a button). If I delete button 3, any calls to personal number goes straight to voicemail. So user can't receive calls.

The other issue is with bridging. We want to make our main office number a digital phone, but if we do, then we are unable to pick up that extension from other digital phones. So I guess my question is how come I can't bridge a digital extension to another digital phone? Does a number have to be analog to bridge to a digital phone?

I hope I explained that right. Please help!

It is not a waste of a button. I personally have 5 call appearances. If will never give any user less than 3. The last call appearance is usually reserved for a conference or transfer. See page 2 of the station form. If you only have 1 call appearance you will only be able to recive 1 call.

A digital bridge is brdg-appr. You should look into another solution other than using bridging for your main number.

My system is older but I think this should work. For a digital bridged appearance use brdg-appr instead of abrdg-appr, but it will only work for one call appearance button on the main number phone. You can remove the call appearance from button three if you change Restrict last call appearance to n on the station form, but then you lose some functionality like call transfer.

I hope some of this helps

So for every call-appr, that is the amount of calls I can recieve? For example, if I program call-appr 3 times, I can have up to 3 active calls?

I guess I'm used to my Nortel MSL-100 ways where all you needed was one appearance of your number.

Not exactly, it depends on page 2 of the station form. If you have 3 call appearances and on page 2 "restrict last appearance = Y" then you can recieve 2 incoming calls. If that is set to "N" then you can recieve 3. I always leave it at YES as you need that last call appearance to make a conference or transfer.

If you give your main office number multiple call appearances, you can bridge each of those appearances onto other digital phones as well:

brdg-appr Btn:1 ext:1234
brdg-appr Btn:2 ext:1234
brdg-appr Btn:3 ext:1234

That way, multiple people can answer the main number.

So would my main office phone look like this:

Button ASSIGNMENTS
1: call-appr (main office number ext. 1700)
2: brdg-appr Btn: 1 ext:1700 (main office # appearance)
3: brdg=appr Btn: 2 ext:1700 (main office # appearance)
4: brdg=appr Btn: 3 ext:1700 (main office # appearance)
5: etc...

If I have 10 digital office phones that need access to 1700, would I have 10 button assignments like above? Then I just add brdg-appr on each users phone?

We want to make our main office number a digital phone, but if we do, then we are unable to pick up that extension from other digital phones.

Could you make the main number into a hunt group, and put all of the other office phones as hunt group members?

I think a hunt group would meet our needs :) I've never built one, but I have a couple of guides to research. I'll give that a shot.

And as far as the digital bridging, I just found out the problem is bridging a digital number to a 7406D phone. For some reason it won't ring on those phones. No matter...we'll be swapping out that junk with some 2 wire phones.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.
