As the question asks, my background is primarily solaris? Any info on how to bring a HP-UX 11.0 system to single-user mode would be great. Thank you in advance.
if you are trying to do a cold boot to single user,
you'll need to stop the automatic startup sequence
with the <ESC> key, soon after power on (is like
a stop-a in solaris).
This will present you a prompt where you can
do a "search" for possible boot devices and
so a boot to "isl" with a command like this:
boot scsi.6.0 isl (assuming your boot disk is in scsi 6)
This againg will present you a prompt: ISL>
and here you can type the following command:
hpux -is
to bring the system to single user.
I hope this helps.
