I need to add an external SCSI DAT drive to an existing platform. the PC already has an internal IDE drive that is working fine.

so my question is how do i add the second tape drive and then how do i add the option to select between the tape drives...

thanks
josh

Add what option where?? Do you use some special software??

it is on SCO 5.0.5...the PC is IDE while the external tape drive is SCSI.

hope that helps

mkdev tape. Specify SCSI dat. It will assign devices, and usually link to rct0. Then you use rct0 as the tape device.
You could add the different devices to /etc/default/tar so you can call the devices with one line for tar.
And if you are using one of the super tars(you should be) they give you the option of specifying tape devices. Ed Fair

so when it comes up sayting that there is a tape drive already as the default and do i want to make this one the default drive i should answer "no" and make it the secondary drive??

that is how i guessed it should be set up

Your choice. After reflection I think it will link as rct1.
