We are looking for the best way to move Exchange Server 5.5 from Domain A to Domain B. Has anyone ran into this scenario, and if you have, what have you done to resolve the issue?
We have an Exchange Server up and running in Domain A. We have a new server in Domain B that we would like to move the server information to. Thus eliminating the Exchange Server in Domain A.
There are two ways. Have the enterprise version of exchange which will do it automatically. (Recommended, but expensive if not required).
Alternatively, set up the new server as a new installation. Set up the internet connection and so on so that you have a copy of the old server but without the users. Then you can copy the users by opening the old server and the new server on the new server. Highlight, copy paste. That was the way we did it (somewhat simplified) but we had the advantage of having both exchange servers with the same name.
Different names will mess up the users access...
