How do u add search action to button in Notes?

I am trying to create a button in a Notes document that will prompt the user for a user id, then search for that user id in our employee global directory in Notes, then return the name of that person. Does anyone know how to do that? Thanks.

Why not just do a @picklist in the Person view of the global directory ?
Unless you are doing this for a web-enabled app. Is that the case ?
