How do they do this with the window?

I have been looking at doing something like this for my school. How do they get the window to seamlessly open and close like that? The best I can do is have it move to certain positions. I know it takes actionscript. Do I make a movieclip with everything working as is and then make a telltarget to the main movie? Please help me with the code. I do not mind learning if there is a tutorial to do this. I do want to learn the correct way of doing it. Click on 1994 when you get in and watch the window. Thank you.
