Since you have identified that you are on Mac, you will need to do this in the Finder, after the file has been closed out of InDesign. Do not try to do this to a file still open in InDesign.
Right-click or Control-click on the InDesign file or the folder containing that file and its related assets (fonts, images, etc). Choose to 'create archive' from the contextual menu that appears.
Thanks, that worked, but when my wife zipped the 33mb pdf, it made a 33mb zip file. Why didn't zipping it make a smaller file? Also when saving her InDesign file or any file, she gets 2 options, desktop or her computer name. She would like to save it to a nested folder. How does she do that? Thanks in advance, these are probably very basic questions, but I'm a PC person and she doesn't let me touch her mac.
Are you saying that you cannot click or double-click on the computer name to dig in to its contents? Is there nothing more to expand in that dialog? You will need to navigate to her 'home' folder, which is in the 'Users' folder of the hard drive.
You need to log in as an admin in order to see any restrictions on other accounts. This is done in the System Preferences:Accounts, just as it is done in Windows:Control Panels:Users.
To get all save options on the computer click the little triangle next to the name of teh doc to be saved. The entire hard drive will then become visible and you can select whatever folder, etc that you want.
