How do I use NTFS partitions from Linux?

I have 2 questions:

1) RedHat 7.3 doesn't want to mount NTFS partitions; I heard I should install something, but I don't recall what exactly is that something. How?

2) Assuming (1) is accomplished, is there any trouble with permissions on NTFS partitions?

You would have to recompile your kernel or just build the NTFS module. There is a good tutorial here:
