My company is currently evaluating SMS 2003 Beta. We don't currently have much SMS experience. I am trying to push out Offce Xp with a custom .mst like I do in Active Directory Group Policies. My problem is that I can get office installed without a problem, but I see no way of telling the wizard to use my mst.

Can someone tell me what I need to do? My mst basiclly just forces all software to be installed then and there (No install on first run) and removes outlook since we are a Notes shop.

Well to start, we need to know what packaging utility it is your using to launch the mst.

If your doing this with SMS, WISE, or Installshield then your settings will vary.

If your using WISE, you launch the Install Tailor and specify any settings in addition to your transform (mst)
file.

Next, you run the process until it creates your updated *.msi from the *.mst.

from here you can compile into a single exe, or simply use the *.msi

Installshield works in the same manner it actually creates
smaller exe's, a result of better compression.
Good luck...

Actually I am useing the Office Custom Install Wizard to make an mst. In Group policy I just creat my installs and then associate a mst to the msi. When the msi is launched the mst is applied to it.

Can I not do something simalar or will I have to recompile any msi that I want to make an mst for?
