How do I transfer an existing NT4...

...member server to be identical with new hardware? The server contains a lot of applications, users, security settings and policies. The server is part of a domain. Does anyone have experience of such a operation? I mean, I cant be the first one to replace a production environment with new hardware without reinstalling everything.? I've tried to find information about this on the web, but failed. I am familiar with clone programs like ghost, but have anyone used such a program except when rolling out new workstations?

How about doing a full backup of the old server, doing a bare bones NT install on the new hardware and then doing a restore to the new server? The trouble with this, though is that NT will be looking for the same hardware you had on your old machine. Hmmm. [sig][/sig]

Yes, I thought of that idea and as you point out, the problem is the hardware. But is it enough to install new drivers on the old server that support the new hardware, do a full backup, remove the old server, do a restore on the new server and thats it, except considerations for the servers name, domain account etc. Just talking hardware. Would the new machine be as the old machine? As I stated in my previous post, this cant be a new situation.? Someone must have done it, or... [sig][/sig]
