W7 blinks (whole screen goes black for 2 seconds and then comes back) when

1) It needs admin priv
2) logging out
3) it feels like blinking (no particular sequence: completely random)

I am running on an HP DC7700 - Core2, 1G Memory, on board graphics card. Is it possible that the graphics card cannot handle aero (Every so often, the circular windows button starts flashing)?

[ One GigaByte + Windows 7 + OnBoard GFX ] is usually a bit stretched...

especially since it uses the Intel® 945GM graphics chip, which is known to not like AERO GLASS, if memory is low...

see here (applies to VISTA but should also work for W7)

Aero Glass on HP laptops nc6400 and tc4400

Only ask questions with yes/no answers if you want "yes" or "no"

I assume you have checked for any updated drivers for your machine via HP that might include the video components. Have you also looked at any Bios update that might be available?

Do you see the same type of behavior from Safe Mode? Do you see it if you test with another user in Normal Mode?

Have you tried the Aero Troubleshooter? You can launch the troubleshooter by typing Aero in the Start Menu Search box.
