How do I stop this mindless beast from doing whatever it is doing?

Perhaps I'm the mindless one, but I'm having an issue. I'm running Backup Exec 8.5 on Win2k Advanced Server and I've been trying to inventory/catalog tapes in the tape library but the jobs won't start because Backup Exec seems to want to do its own thing.

It keeps taking tapes form their slots, puts them into the tape drive, runs for a few minutes, removes the tape, and repeats the process with another tape! (The selection of tapes seems random)

Even after restarting the machine and I try to inventory the tapes again, the job will not start because it seems to be running some other "job" in the background that does NOT appear in the "Job Monitor" or any other properties box (so I can't abort it).

Does anyone know how I can find out what "job" is running that takes so long (over 22 hours) that Backup Exec won't let me start a new job? Any help would be greatly apprecitated!
