hello:)

For months now I have been trying to figure out how to disable the request for a "network password for Microsoft Networking" window that opens when I turn on my computer - before Windows loads completely.

I don't use a network and it prevents other programs from initiating and generally causes problems. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

Thanks for your time.

In control panel network change the logon to windows logon. Then logon as someone new with a blank password, confirm the blank password and you will not be prompted again.

Assuming you're not on a network, you should be able to 'cure' this by removing any registered users.

Go to control panel, click the users applet and delete any users.

The other reason you might get this is if you have a network card set up.

If you are on a network, suggest you don't do this, but if it's a stand alone machine, you can disable the network card in the system applet in control panel.

I also suggest if you're making any of these configuration changes, note down details of what you are removing before you do it - if you make a mess it's much easier to restore!!
