How do I stop scanning network drives?

Hoping somebody can point me in the right direction... We run a SAV server version 9. One problem I see is that the clients seem to be scanning network shares. I came to this conclusion because if I go to the root of my C drive, select all files, and select the properties, I have approx 200,000 files on my PC (and I noticed this on other PCs also). When I look at the history of my past scans, SAV is scanning like over 500,000 files on average. I see this as overkill because all the servers have SAV on them as well. How do I stop SAV from scanning network shares? or put another way, how do I make SAV only scan local drives?

It's worth noting that we have the real time auto protect enabled for network as well, and that is good, I don't want to change that because it protects against possible viruses that someone might open up from a network share.

Help will be very appreciated.

This is interesting to me and worth noting for this thread. I have my PC off the network (unplugged the cable) and I'm not connected to any network drives. Right now I'm running a manual scan on my C drive and it's up to 400,000 files scanned. As I mentioned above, I went to the root of my C drive, selected everything, went to properties and it came up with only 200,000 files. This leads me to believe two things:
1. Tells me that SAV is probably going into .zip, .jar, .rar files, etc... and scanning everything that is in those.
2. It's not actually scanning the network shares

Those are the only possible justifications I can make from this.

If memory serves me, you need to upgrade to SAV 10.1 in order to disable the network scans.

That's something I have been meaning to do. I would like to see some doc that tells me more about how SAV 10.x will do that. As far as I know, the biggest new feature in v10 is the Vista support.

I found out, SAV is indeed going into files like zip and jar and it's actually going two levels deep within those files. When you exclude files from a scan, it's referencing files local to your PC (not network shares).

In conclusion, I was wrong about it scanning network shares. I thought it was but it really wasn't. At least I learned something about Symantec.
