Hi,

When I execute an insert statement from within SQL Data Manager (PVSW 2000i SP3 on Novell 5.1) The SQL Data Manager stops responding but the query is still being executed.
In the pervasive monitor I see that user SRDE Aanonymous is running the query and in Novell moitor I see that the file is in use by connection 0.

Normally you stop execution of the query by using the stop button in SQL Data Manager, but since it is not responding during execution, that option is unavailable to me.

Is there any (other) way to stop the execution of the query?

Many thanks for any help.

Hans.

Dear Hans.
I am up with even more basic question for you.
When I execute an insert statement from within SQL Data Manager (PVSW 2000i SP3) The SQL Data Manager messages me with "Data buffer parameter is too short" and wouldn't add anything to the table. Maybe if you could help me get this thing at least to execute?
Thanks in advance
Vlad

odcenter:

Status Code 22 (The data buffer parameter is too short) generally results from there being a difference in the physical record size and the defined record size in a table definition. Check your database definitions against the actual physical table.

If you have a runaway process like this, use the Monitor program to find the SRDE: Anonymous connection related to the query, and delete that user. This will terminate the query.

Vancouverite,

Alas, tried it, but then monitor hangs as well. We' re not able to delete the SRDE anonymous user on Novell because it's on connection 0 (server process). Also rebooting the workstion does not help......
I'm at a loss......

Hans.

You can delete the SRDE: <anonymous> user from within Monitor as well with another technique I have found. If you can determine which SRDE: Master is associated with the query, you can terminate that user and usually terminate the runaway.

Also, SP4 is much better at terming processes than SP3 was. You may consider the upgrade.

Vancouverite,

What technique did you find, other than using Monitor?
We are considering upgrading to SP4 but, we still need to perform some extended tests so that might take a while...

Much thanks for any help

Hans
