How do I Stop configuration from closing.

Everytime I merge a setting change the configuration closes and I have to reopen it again. Before I upgraded I never had to do this. Anyone know how to stop it? Thanks.

Preference /security it is a check box. I would also make sure auto backup is on and application timer is off.
