How Do I Stage a File from Tape?

I have attempted to use the stage command for getting a file from tape to disk. Could somebody please show me an example of the syntax to do this?

Here's what I'm currently using:

stage -c 1 <filename>.tar

I don't think this is right, but I'm doing my best to go by what the man pages say.
