Hi,

As you will see (before read my question) i'am a begginer in cognos stuff.
I must count all the records in a field, but my problem is that this field have duplicates and i want count distinctly.

Example:

Reception Line of Reception
--------- -----------------
123 1
123 2

I want my report to tell

"Number of Reception" 1
"Number of Lines of Reception" 2

How do i do that??
If i make a simple count i have 2 receptions and 2 lines of reception. That's not what i want :(

Thanks you all in advanced

Ricardo Pereira

Senhor Pereira,

In order to achieve this do the following:

For "Number of Reception" measure
---------------------------------
- Specify a regular rollup of count
- Specify a duplicates rollup of Maximum

For "Number of Lines of Reception" measure
------------------------------------------
- Specify a regular rollup of count
- Specify a duplicates rollup of None (Regular Rollup)

This will give you the values (1 and 2 respectively) that you are looking to obtain. Let us know how you make out.

Cheers,

Pedro Cardoso??
Pelos vistos temos um expert português no tek-tips :)

Well,

I think that doesn't work because i have 6 Number of Receptions and 8 lines of reception on my database. After do that i have only one Number of Receptions and 8 Lines of Reception. The Lines are correct but the number of receptions not :(

If you tell me you mail we would talk in portuguese :)

Ricardo,

Meu português não é muito bom....especially written. I should stick to English.... :)

If you could post up your dataset of 8 records I'll take a peek...I setup some mock data before firing off my previous reply, so I'm not sure why it didn't get you the results you wanted, unless I misinterpreted the data...(always possible)

Pedro, sorry about the late response, but i need to finish and jsp application and i didn´t had time to work with cognos.
S2SIT S2DEP Data Recepcao Linha

CP TESTE 03-01-2002 52 11
CP TESTE 03-01-2002 52 12

This should return 2 receptions and 13 lines of reception for 03-01-2002

I put S2SIT,S2DEP,Data as dimensions.

I only can get the result i want if i put the reception as a dimension (and count the dimension), but i think this is not the best thing to do :
