how do i setup sendmail?

Hey people,
im running a suse linux 6.4 and ive tried 2 days on just figuring out, how this sendmail works. how can i get it configured?
i want to send the mail i have waiting to an smtp server which i have, and i need to authenticate myself, (login password). How do i set sendmail up?
any suggestions?

do you have the sendmail source and m4 files?

if you have these then you can make your sendmail script easily without having to worry too much about configuration problems.

if you don't i'd advise that you get them ...
