How do I set up SSL on an IIS web server?

I've been working on the issue of setting up SSL on our IIS server for the past couple of weeks. Does anybody understand the process? Seems when I set up the Certification Authority service on Win2K and gave one of my virtual web sites the certificate, I could no longer access my site.
