In an attempt to find out why certain people can't send mail to my server, I'd like to enable logging of all connections to our server, hopefully showing which servers have attempted to connect and why they have been rejected - relaying restrictions or whatever....

I can't seem to get the standard SMTP logging to show this... any ideas?

Did you enable the box at the bottom of the SMTP Virtual Server?

The client will also have the code in the NDR. Dan

Yes, I had enabled logging (in W3c format).

I have managed to fix this problem, now when I search the log file directory for files containing the IP of the other companies mail server, there are no records between the day i fixed it and the previous two months - so it mustn't show connections rejected.

The problem turned out to be on the deny/accept connections page for the smtp server, where someone had added a deny entry for an unrelated domain (freeandkinky.com), this somehow prevented the other company and our own firewalls from being able to connect to the server (other mail was unaffected).

Bizarre...
