Can somebody please give me some idea how i would go about setting up my SCO Openserver 5.0.6G system to serve the time to my desktop PCs?

I would ideally like to pull the time from a server (somewhere) on the internet. My internet connection is up and running.

Thanks in advance

You'll need to do a bit of research. I'm syncing 5.04b to a NTP server. I had to code special checks at the beginning of my cronned scripts. Why? When the clock is adjusted back sometimes cronned scripts will start again. i.e. that cronned backup will start for the 2nd time.
Will this happen under 5.0.6G? I'm not sure.

I haven't set it up to function as a time server to PCs. I did under Linux and I found the following.

Under NT2000 PCs will only sync to the PDC. That can be a NT server or a samba server set up as the PDC. NT Servers can be set up to sync to a NTP server. The PCs will need the Windows Time service set to automatic.

You can avoid the issue where cron reruns jobs by using ntpdate with the -sB parameters. This will mean it always attempts to slew the clock in the right direction a fraction at a time, which cron shouldn't notice. See man ntpdate for details. Annihilannic.
