Hello everybody,

Would like to know how one sets Internet explorer to be one's default browser. I have IE6 and Netscape Communicator 4.78 installed on this computer.

Trying to open a hyperlink in MS PowerPoint 2000 (running on XP), and then it opens in Netscape.

Any ideas will be great! Thanks

In IE, Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and select IE there.

For some odd reason though this does not always work as it should. If this proves the case for you, there is a terrific little freeware utility that will make the change quite easily:

Thanks! Tried the SetBrowser utility, and it worked!

Now, does anyone actually know which registry entry it changes, so that one can do it without this program? Might need to do it on a few PC's...

Registry Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\HTTP\Shell\Open\ddeexec\Application

Note too: use regedit to export that key on your machine to a file.

Then you can use regedit /s name of your export.reg
