I know this is going to be a long shot here, since it seems that most everyone on this forum has small/desktop type printers, but what the heck...I have 4 xerox 4135 and 4635 laser printers. What I need to figure out is how I go about sending my img and frm files to the printers with the print job, instead of having the images and forms files residing on the printers hard drives. Any help would be great.

You can't do exactly what you want with an .frm. A partial solution might be to use a DJDE FILE= which would download the form, but you would have to delete it afterwards.

But as for .img files, you can use a DJDE GRAPHICS= which tells the system that here comes a graphic. In block mode, the in-stream graphic is used directly into the print file and no .img file is kept on the disk. You'll need to read up on Document and Page Interleaving.

My 4135 LPS PDL/DJDE manual is an old one, V3.6 from 1993 and in there the use of DJDEs is explained in Chapter 8, and graphics in Chapter 9.

HTH?

my programmers figured out how to do what we needed.
resources are uploaded to the printers in stream with the print job and then are deleted after the job is done.
turns out that the main problem we were running into was the blocker was set at fixed length records and to do the instream we had to go to variable length records. once they got the record lengths set correctly it has been going great.
