Hi Techies,

I need to install netscape and its prereq's on 20+ linux desktops across the WAN. Now trying to automate the push of the rpms and initiate an installation on the remote servers is driving me NuTs.

I have Suse 9.0 on all desktops, and am considering looping through the hostnames and ftp'ing the rpms and the install script. But then how do I run the install remotely. On gentoo it was much easier administering multiple installations. Any ideas, please.

Either you could set up some kind of trusted host arrangement with SSH keys to allow you to administer the hosts remotely, or you could use expect to log in to the systems, su to root, etc. autoexpect is useful for recording the commands you wish to run, although you usually need to fine-tune the script it creates so that it works on other servers with different host names in the prompts and that sort of thing.
