Hello,

Can anyone give me specific instructions as to how to restore my Win NT Server 4.0 registry?

I have a dual boot computer, Windows 98 / NT Server 4.0, and cannot boot into NT Server, because I think my registry is corrupt.

I have my 3 setup disks and my emergency repair disk. Now, what? When I get to the DOS prompt, which file do I load from my setup disks so that I can do a repair? Or . . . ?

Please be specific with the instructions and keep in mind that I have a dual boot computer.

Thank you VERY much for your help.

jbrooks,
Have you tried booting up with the Last Known Good Configuration Option before you restore the registry.
To use your restore boot up using the three setup disks and it will come to a menu with one of the options being to press R to repair your installation. You need to decide what you want to restore and then follow the prompts.

Before repairing the system, be sure about the cause. it may be due to a problem in boot.ini. If the flex boot menu is showing then errors cropping up after choosing nt can help you. Anyways, if you are sure that its the registry, then boot the machine with setup1 disk and eventually choosing the 'R' option but be careful to check only the registry option. I would suggest you to backup the 98 bootsector(just in case..). However, modifying the registry would erase your previous machine a/c and settings. wiedersehn

Hi, forgot to ask you if you had converted the 98 partition into FAT32? 'coz in that case nt won't boot. wiedersehn
