I have a CICS 8/16 with Flash VM 4. I want to free up a couple of buttons on M7324 phones (right set of 12 buttons) so can reprogram with flash functions 981 and 986. The right set of 12 buttons are all programmed by default (which I have never changed). Just doing a Feature *3 will not work (won't accept the feature code), so I am assuming this means I have to change the default programming, but haven't found the section in the manuals where this tells me how.

It will work if you do F*3, press the key you want to program, press FEATURE xx for whatever feature you need.

What you describe I have tried without success. I press Feature button, then *3. Prompted then to press the button, which I do. Then prompt to enter feature code. However when I try to type in the code, nothing shows and nothing happens. Per manual, says it is supposed to respond with "programming", which doesn't happen. Just continues to display the "feature code" prompt.

As a result I thought that maybe it was preventing me from reprogramming since the buttons I have tried all have default programming (like DND, Conf, etc).

Are you pressing the feature button again before you enter 986? You need to if your not. If it still wont take it, try some other feature code like feat5. See if that takes, and report back. FYI VM codes will not take in system programming - you have to do the feat*3.

1.feat*3
2.press button
3.feat986
