How do I remove an icon from the taskbar?

I installed a RoboForm update and it put an icon for that program on my taskbar.



There are two guaranteed rules of success: First, never tell everything you know.

Right click on the Teskbar and uncheck "Lock the Taskbar" if it is checked. Then Start > Settings > Taskbar and Start Menu, then Taskbar tab. Check the box for "Hide Inactive Icons", then click Customize. Click the item you want to hide, and in the dropdown box choose "Always hide", then OK, then Apply. Recheck "Lock the Taskbar" if it was checked before.

Hi judgehopkins and Frank4d,

If perhaps you meant an icon in the quick launch (usually a row of icons starting from the left side of the taskbar), you can remove it by right clicking on it, and then dragging it onto the desktop. That should remove an icon from the quick launch portion of the taskbar. Otherwise, what Frank4d mentioned should work for removing an application icon near the clock.

As you are aware many programs have property pages (often obtained via a right click on an icon) that allows removal of the icon from Taskbar Notification Area.

Right-click on the Icon, are there any options available in that programs preferences to remove the icon? Can you use MsConfig to stop the program from loading at Startup?
