How do I remove a hrad link that I created?

The docs are very specific on how to create them but I can't find out how to remove one.

OS & platform: Tru64 on Alpha

Thanks

The rm command will remove the link.

A hard link is a filename that points to a file, you can have as many links to a file as you need. The file only goes away properly when all links to it are removed.

Right, but I didn't want to remove the file, only the hard link.

But that is the correct answer, rm hardlinkname did work, it just made me very nervous (I made a save copy of the file before trying it).

Thanks for your response.

<grin> Good for you lazyrider, always save your work first if you're not sure -- especially if the advice came from the Internet!

Glad you're sorted. Mike
