How do I register unsupported, obsolete software? For example, Paint Shop Pro 7, formerly JASC Software, is now owned by Corel. However, Corel does not support it because it is so old. Thus, what good is the registration card when the parent company does not support it (it will end up in the abyss)? How do you prove it is actually a legitimate copy? Simply purchasing the CD on ebay does not do that because it does not require a registration/serial number to install it.

Why would you want to register unsupported, obsolete software? If they aren't supporting it, there's nothing to register for.

To whom are you intending to "prove it is a legitimate copy"? I can't imagine anybody is going to be too bothered, but if you have paperwork relating to the purchase, I suggest you hang on to it.

PSP7 is, incidentally, perfectly adequate for most imaging needs. Arguably, a lot of the features added since then have been bloatware (you can see that point more forcefully here). Not requiring elaborate registration procedures is one of its many good features.
