Hello all,

My site runs an IBM Z/OS mainframe and a collegue of mine has managed to deleted a data set that is not backed up by any means (e.g. DFDSS, HSM e.t.c.), the SCRATCH option was not specified so in theory the data set should still reside on disk but not in the VTOC?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to recover the deleted data set?

Many thanks

Monty

It sounds like the dataset was simply uncataloged, but not deleted. To "recover" it, you will need to know the volume that it was on. Once you know the volume, then you can catalog the dataset using ISPF option 3.4. Good luck.
