i was backing up and ran out of space to catalog jobs.
one of my jobs completed but b/c there was no room to catalog it didn't create one. I tried inventoring and then cataloging but it just stalls at the same place over and over again. any suggestions on how to recover this catalog?

thanks

Try turning off used media based catalog, and then doing the catalog again, this will rescan the tape totally and re-create the catalog on the server - what has probably happened is that the catalog because it wasn't written to the server properly, it didn't write it to the tape.

Turn this feature back on, once you have catalogged the tape.

Can't remember exactly where it is though, might be in Tools, Options, Media.

turning off media based catalogs didn't work
thanks for the tip. Now it won't even catalog as far as it did before. any other suggestions?

thanks

the only other thing, I can think of is to copy out everything from your catalog directory, and then try and run the catalog again. If this doesn't work, then you won't be able to catalog the tape in BE.

You can however try and catalog it in NTbackup and see how far you get.
