I am trying to count the number of times a particular string appears in a field on my report. For example, I have an orders table and I want to know how many times customers from FL placed an order.

In MS Excel, it's so simple "=CountIf(Range, Criteria)". I've tried using the Crystal Count functions, but I always get an error message like "Summary could not be created".

I'd like for these 'counts' to appear in the Report Footer section of the report, I'm not quite interested in a "Running Total".

I've been banging my head against the wall. Any help out there?

Try using a running total based on a specific group.

thread149-49336 has the same issue answered, only with the string 'xml' instead of 'FL'. Malcolm
