I have the need to "burn" a cd in a cd-rw device in the Unix system (SCO 5.0.7). I have never used a UNIX system for this purpose and a search in SCO web site did not help.
Do I have to have special "burn" software in the system (such as Nero)?
What command, if any, do I need to use?
Thanks

Joe

I believe the program is called cdrecord.
and it is in the skunkware area.

You can download a later version of the software off the web. Search for cdrecord and Schilling.

Comes in two parts, one to make an ISO image and a burn part to do the burning plus all the support stuff you need.

I have it running on about 12 machines for a middle of the night burn of the backup file created by edge. All using SCSI CD-RWs.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

if you load MP4 for 5.0.7 then you will have a "licensed" or authorized version of dvdrecord / cdrecord. it also has the mkisofs and everything else that you need to create and burn iso images.

we are using it in various scripts for backups
eg:

mkisofs -J -r -split-output -q -o $BUBASE/dvdout/raw.iso $BUTARGET
dvdrecord -s -dao $BUBASE/dvdout/raw.iso*

(this also deals with the 2GB filesize limit)
