I have a small app setup in ACCESS that tracks contractors, allows vendors to add new employees/data & does basic Help Desk functions. I need to know how to PROTECT the form, so remote users (who have been allowed entry via a network share) can ONLY use the SWITCHBOARD and it's forms. In other words, so they can't get to the TABLES/FORMS/QUERIES, etc.

Help (pleez)!

Go to menu Tools --> Startup. In this area you can specify what menus, controls, etc can be used while the db is open.

I believe you can alos customize menues and controls based on user priveledges.

peace.

That was a WINNER, xChuck.... it doesn't do everything I need, but it takes care of the initial problem. I'm trying to do this without having to monkey with USER SECURITY (since I'd rather only have to use network user permissions). This will make that happen, as long as the user doesn't realize that all they have to do is click on TOOLS to "get the ability back". Cool, thx!

Go to Tools > Startup again and uncheck the box that says "Alow Full Menus" That will hide the Tools item in the Menu bar. As long as the users do not know to hold down the shift key on startup you will be ok.
It is just another thing that keeps the honest people honest.

you can also disable the shift key, and if you want you can hide database window, you use code to do this which i have if you would like it. let me know and i'll walk you through the process of locking the db down. its not perfect but its ok
