It's been a while and I've forgotten how to protect a range of cells in excel (not the entire sheet). Someone please refresh my memory.

Thanks

It depends on your definition of 'protect'. But I suspect this is what you are thinking of:

Select all cells. Go to Format > Cells > Protection and uncheck Locked.

Now select the range you want locked. Go back to Format > Cells > Protection and check Locked.

Now go to Tools > Protection > Protect Sheet.

In XP and above you can protect/unprotect a range of cells

Tools>Protection>Allow Users to Edit Ranges

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Good to know, Geoff. I guess I never tried it on XP.
