Friends,

Can anyone suggest a bit of html type code to be used to either protect an entire page or a link itself? I am not sure where to start the protection process and I just basically need to create a link to a secure web page where I would like to set up ftp for access to an office computer when not in the office. I do not want the link to let anyone but myself or my other techs to that specific page. My web host does offer a secure folder..should I consult them? Is it possible to simply refer to a file in a secure folder that is protected on the site prompting a password authorization?

I feel like I could simply make a secret page and not use a link, just type the page name in directly to a browser, but it would create a small but direct path to my pc left in browsers and there lies the risk.

Basically trying to gain field access from any computer to emergency patches, downloads and other resources we have on disk here at the office. I do have a dedicated dsl connection so any other types of suggestions would be welcome.

Can anyone give me help, tips or referrals to other books or articles that would be helpful?

Thanks

Hi mate,

If you can use htaccess then check out the following script I made...

Click on the htaccess link and it will create the htaccess contents and then you need to tell us what OS the machine is running.. If it is windows then there is also directions at that address..

Hope this helps Wullie

Definitly server side security is the only way as Neversleep said. If your host offers this protection then problem solved. Password protect one of your directories and hey presto.

Great wizard Wullie, is it clients only?? :)
