How do I properly erase/remove/purge reports from Crystal Reports 9 filestore output directory

Hello, I would like properly dispose of my Crystal Reports 9 output files stored in:
C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise 9\FileStore\Output\...
This directory contains about 30,000 files and almost 3gb of disk space. This server only has a 10gb boot partition and is getting full.
These output files have already been emailed/printed so I do not need to store them (and are reproducible?). Do I need these files for anything?
Can I simply erase the "output" directory? would that break anything?
Do I need to do something with the cms database to clear these? Should the cms database be backed up first? and how do you do that?
Also, how can I move this output directory to a different drive/directory?

Thanks,

Do not remove them from the file-store directly, or make any changes directly to the CMS database.

Delete the History INSTANCES from the Objects, or DELETE the OBJECTS themselves from through the CMC or a 3rd-party tool.

In CE-10 you can also set LIMITS on how many Instances to retain per Object. Not sure if that is available in CE-9

Yes limmiting the number of instances saved is also available in CE9. you can set it at the object level if needed.

I forgot to mention that once you set tthe limit on an object, the excess instances will be purged the next time the object is run.
