Help!!!!
I am a definity programmer and have been asked to help program a Merlin Legend for someone located two hours away. Is it possible to remote into a Legend, the same as a G3? Can I use ASA(DSA) for the programming? I have been told that I need a special programming tool. Is this a free tool?
Thanks,
A novice to legend programming

In some way the Legend and Definity are the same, then again, they are miles apart in other ways. You need SPM to program a legend. You can use a DOS version or Windows version, but the windows is more common now. The windows version has a GUI, but is geared more towards the administrator. The DOS version, or Standard SPM, is also built into the WinSPM and is required to do certain functions such as renumbering, system setup, maint, etc. You simply dial up the legned and have someone transfer you to the modem port, or you can setup some unassisted access if you have the right stuff. If you are a definity programmer, do you work for an Avaya dealer? If so, you guys should have the WinSPM software around. If not, I can get you a copy along with the SPM manual. The program is a bit large to email.

The legend also has a built-in modem. The extension number is *10. Thats STAR-1-0. SO when you have them transfer you, make sure they dial the STAR.

The manual has the default password. I don't want to post in on the list, but in the Admin manual for the legend, there's a section on remote connection. The link below should take you to the appropriate manual.

Hope this helps...

Kris
