WHY?
On a small system there can be several thousand files.
However...look at Backup, Options, Alert, Configure.
Make sure there is a printer there.
Also make sure Alert manager is running as a program or a service. Glenn A

there is a dispute on when a file was created that is the main reason I need a list of files printed out. The problem is a follows :- employee states that the file was in place on a certain date, Manager cannot rember the file being there on said date, employee also states that he had found the file from doing a search on the network and found it to be in the wrong folder he then opened up the file clicked on file, save as and moved it in to a different folder. He then deleted the original file from its current location.
Now this has left me with a bit of a problem, the manager in charge wants to know if the employee is lying about this if he is and the file did not exsit in its unmoved location then the said employee will be repramanded. They have given me no indication to what the file could of been called originally so I would have to base my search on roughly part of the file name. Any suggestions on how to solve my problem would be appreciated
See if the deleted version of the file is in the Server Recovery Bin.
You can see the list of files backed up, with dates, from any Arcserve tape. Go to Restore by Session. Select the tape that is in the drive. Expand the list. (You do not really need to restore). If you find the "deleted" file you can view the date information right there. Glenn A

Also, you should be able to get a report on what each backup/session actually backed up. I am currently using AS7 but remember doing something similar in AS6.
In AS7, you go to Reports, Cchoose Session Detail Report, pick your backup and session, and you have a list of files/directories that were backed up. This includes creation/modified date/time and file size.
Should be a similar function in AS6. -----------------------------------------------------

I just figured out how to access the report function of AS6 and I have printed it directly to the printer, all 2000 pages of it! I have also exported the info into an excel spreadsheet but the format of the spreadsheet is a little bit messy. I thought That buy exporting it to an excel spreadsheet I could add autofilters and then set the filters to look for all word documents as the document in question is of word format, but due to the exports formatting this is just not possible.
Is there away in AS6 for reports to be customised?
