Im running windows xp pro with SP2 and ever since ive gotten SP2 windows has repeatedly overwritten my proper modem driver (Generic Soft56k) with the voice speakerphone drivers which dont work neerly as well with my modem. ive tried updateing/reinstalling/uninstalling rebooting then reinstalling and nothing i do will make the Generic Soft56k drivers stick. this wouldnt be a major issue but it writes over them every time i boot and its getting rather annoying to reinstall my modem every time i reboot.

Is there any way to turn off the PnP feature of winxp or "lock" a driver so it cant be replaced?

Thanks ahead of time
